Obituary

Theresa Salig, 87, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023. Born August 1, 1935 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Theresa resided on Staten Island until moving to Lakewood, NJ in 2000. She was the devoted daughter of the late Sabina & Anthony Munley. Theresa is survived by her husband of 65 years John and her children Patricia (Ron), John (Carolyn), Charles and her son-in-law Robert Schuster. She is also survived by her grandchildren Matthew, Lauren, Colin, Daniel & Kathryn and her siblings Mary Costigan, Kathleen Javaruski, Peggy Parkes, Jack Munley, Patty Guardino & Sheila Herbert. She is predeceased by her daughter Terry Schuster. Theresa graduated from St. Paul’s Elementary School & St. Peter’s High School for Girls. Upon graduation, she worked in New York before leaving to raise her family. Later Theresa worked at HL Oldsmobile as a bookkeeper before taking a position at Bellcore in Piscataway NJ. She retired in 2000 and moved to a retirement community in Lakewood, NJ. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, sewing, reading & spending time with family. Family & friends will be received on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 3-7PM at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 7, 2023 at 11 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Interment will follow at Moravian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Theresa’s memory.
