My mom saw Mr. Guinta's obituary and forwarded it to me, because she knew she recognized the name. I had Mr Guinta as a teacher while I was at IS 75 sometime between 2000-2003 for History. What's special about my mom remembering Mr Guinta's name is that parents usually don't remember the names of teachers their kids had that long ago, but my mom did because Mr Guinta was a favorite teacher of mine. He took the time to make these incredible PowerPoints for history that really just engaged you. It made little me feel like I was watching a movie, like I was experiencing a great documentary. In fact he was so enthusiastic in his teachings that by the time class was over and he was done gesticulating and making giant sweeping movements with his PowerPoints, he'd be covered in sweat, haha (he was also the only teacher that was always sure to wear a full suit to teach a bunch of middle schoolers, so I'm sure that didn't help the case). His passion and enthusiasm for the subject sparked a love of history for me that has never left. I always took more history and political science classes than I needed to for the rest of my school career all because of the interest he fostered in me. He was an absolutely incredible teacher who had a major impact on my life and I'll always be grateful to him for sharing his passion with us. Thank you for everything you've done. Peaceful travels, Mr G🤍.
