Obituary For Norman Drevitch

Norman Drevitch of Eltingville passed away on Sunday April 14 after a two-year battle with ALS, surrounded by his wife Susan and son Peter. Norman was born to Julia (Friedman) Drevitch and Samuel Drevitch on October 17, 1951. He grew up in Richmondtown and worked as a boy and young man at Huttar’s Garden Center before attending Boston College and ultimately returning to Staten Island and joining ConEd where he worked as a Mechanic A in the Brooklyn Yard for over 30 years. He also owned and operated Norm’s Landscaping for over 40 years, doing beautiful work for countless clients throughout Staten Island. He was a fiercely independent, strong, funny, and loving person who will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father Samuel, who passed away when Norman was a small boy, his mother Julia, and his sister Sandy. He is survived by his loving wife Susan, sons Peter Drevitch and Joshua Drevitch, stepsons Daniel Barile and David Barile, as well as three grandchildren he loved so very much, Grant, Elise, and Paige. The family will receive friends from 2-6pm on Wednesday April 17 at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY.
