Obituary

Michael Brian Kuras, age 66 , entered into eternal rest on June 21, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Michael was born on March 23, 1956 in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn. He was second of three children born to the late Thomas and Frances (nee Rogan) Kuras. Michael was a graduate of St. Ephrem grammar school. He attended Fort Hamilton High School before entering the United States Navy where he served for four years. While in the Navy, he learned how to operate and repair high pressure boilers and air conditioning equipment. He was honorably discharged in April 1977. Michael attended APEX Technical School in order to further the skills that he acquired in the Navy.

Throughout his life, Michael worked in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning trade for several large companies, including Cushman and Wakefield. His last position, before his health condition required him to retire early, was as a heating and cooling technician for the US Veterans Administration at the Brooklyn , New York facility. Michael was an avid New York Yankees fan and he was always the head chef at family bar-b-ques . His nickname was "The Grill Sergeant".

Michael's younger sister, Patricia predeceased him. she was a victim of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11. Michael is survived by his older brother Thomas and his loving sister in law, Helene as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins ,and friends. Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 26th, from 3-7 pm at the Hanley Funeral Home 60 New Dorp Lane. Funeral Monday June 27th, visiting 10 am. Service at Funeral Home 11 am. Interment to follow Resurrection Cemetery.
