Obituary

Lucy (Vulpis) Sapio, 90, of Staten Island, NY passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023 with her family by her side. Lucy was born on May 10, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Benedict & Josephine Vulpis. Lucy was married to Gerald Sapio for almost 69 years. They moved to Richmondtown 53 years ago where they raised their children. Lucy spent every winter in Florida with her extended family. She loved to travel and take her family on many vacations- however, she was happiest home spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild. Lucy was a strong woman of faith that was very involved for years with Catholic Daughters of America. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. Everyone was welcome in her home, especially for holidays and Sunday dinner. Lucy is survived by her loving husband, Gerald, her children, Joan (Joe) DeRenzo, Gerald (Maxine) Sapio, Linda Paoluccio, Donna (Kevin) Martin, and Lisa (Don) DelPrete. She was a loving grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 1. She was a beloved sister to Jeanette Curtin and the late Geraldine Nicastro &
Joan Vulpis.

Visitation at Hanley Funeral Home on Sunday, August 13, from 3-7. Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Patrick’s on Monday, August 14th at 10:00 am with burial at Moravian to follow.
