Beloved Mother & Grandmother, Longtime Islander
Josephine Pontone, 87, of Staten Island, NY passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023.

Daughter of Anthony and Isabelle Solimandi, Josephine was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where she met the love of her life, Louis Pontone. After they married, they moved to Staten Island where they raised their 3 children. Josephine was very involved in her children's schools and activities while also helping her husband build their successful family business. In her later years, she loved traveling, spending time with her family at their beach house in Seaside Park, and frequented Atlantic City where you could always find her playing one of her favorite table games, Mississippi Stud.
After her husband passed in 2016, she moved to New Jersey to be closer to family while becoming devoted to her local church ministries. Josephine loved nothing more than being with her family and helping to raise her 7 granddaughters, who kept her very busy. She was loved and cherished by everyone she met.
Josephine is predeceased by her husband, Louis A. Pontone, and her sister Rosemary Aceste. She is survived by her children, Donna Pontone and husband Robert Knott, Thomas Pontone and wife AnnMarie and Angela LoConte and husband Joseph.

She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Jaclyn and husband Bill, Malorie, Allyse and husband Mathew, Amanda and husband Andrew, Isabelle, Alyssa Jo and fiance Anthony, and Angelina. She was also a proud "Nanny" to great grandchildren Gianni, Louis, Andy, Michael, Malaya, Santino, John William III, and Romeo, and is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 21, 2023, at 11:00am, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 61 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY. Entombment to follow at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY. Visitation will be held Tuesday June 20, 2023, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY.
