Obituary

John Salig, 88, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023. Born January 7, 1935 on Staten Island, John resided in the New Dorp section of Staten Island until moving to Lakewood, NJ in 2000. He was the son of the late John & Sophie Salig.

John is survived by his children Patricia (Ron), John (Carolyn), Charles and his son-in-law Robert Schuster. He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew, Lauren, Colin, Daniel & Kathryn and his sister Jean Cicero. He is predeceased by his wife of 65 years Theresa and his daughter Terry Schuster. John graduated from P.S. 40 and McKee High School. Upon graduation, John joined the U. S. Army and was stationed at Fort Dix. After his discharge, he joined the NYPD where he was an officer until his retirement in 1982. Following his retirement from the NYPD, John was employed by the security department at First Investors. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, home improvement & spending time with family.

Family & friends will be received on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 3-7PM at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Interment will follow at Moravian Cemetery.
