It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Allocco, a cherished husband, devoted father, adored grandfather, and an unwavering pillar of his community. John peacefully departed this world at the age of 94 on January 11th, 2024, leaving behind a rich legacy of hard work, dedication, and boundless love.

Born on November 22, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, John Allocco was a proud native of the city. His early years he had a passion for art, however, when duty called, John served his country during the Korean War after being drafted.

During his military service, John distinguished himself as an exceptional athlete, notably shining as a key player on the army baseball team. His performance on the field earned him numerous write-ups. He shared his passion for sports with his children and grandchildren and never missed a little league game or an opportunity to practice with them.

John held two full-time jobs with remarkable dedication. By day, he served the community as a diligent postal worker. By night, he stood as a nightwatchman on the piers, all while being a devoted father, served as an inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

John was known for his gentle soul and humble nature. A beacon of support for those around him, he offered kindness and compassion to everyone he encountered. His warmth and generosity created a welcoming presence that will be dearly missed by family, friends, and acquaintances alike.

John Allocco is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Virginia, a testament to a love that endured the tests of time. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three loving children John Allocco, Philip Allocco, and Gina Alcide , who carry forward the values instilled by their father. His legacy extends to his daughters-in-law, Joanne and Gemma, and son-in-law Mark. John's adored grandchildren, Mike, Tommy, Jake, and Brydon, will forever hold the memories of their beloved grandfather close to their hearts.

As we honor the life of John Allocco, let us reflect on the enduring love, hard work, and kindness he shared with the world. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal embrace of the memories he leaves behind.

I'm honored to call John's son Phil a close friend for over 15 years and I've had the chance to spend time with John on a few occasions in that time. The first time I met him was at the premiere of Phil's film The Truth about Lies. I distinctly remember John beaming with pride over his son's accomplishment and how charming he was when we first met. Phil is an amazing person and it's no doubt due to the quality of his parents character. My deepest condolences to all those touched by John's light.

John was so easy to fall in love with. He brought colour to our world. It is so painful to lose one of the very best who brought so much fun, love and laughter to so many lives. We prey for you his loving family that the happiest of memories come flooding in and give you all some comfort. One thing I know for sure is the Allocco family are masters at keeping those memories alive in the best way possible. We send so much love from across the pond and if Gemma's Granny could stretch her arms over she would give you all such a big hug. I will bring my hugs to you soon. X
