Obituary For Edward F. Ruriane

Edward Francis Ruriane passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning hours of June 19, 2024. Born in Brooklyn on September 15, 1944, Ed loved to spend time in Florida, Maine, and “up the country” in the Catskills. Survived by his wife Elaine, daughters Dena and Staci, sons in law Dave and Peter, and beloved grandkids Justin, Julia, Erin, and Abby.

Raised by a single mother in Brooklyn, Ed attended Our Lady of Guadalupe before proclaiming “Mom, it’s me or the nuns.” And transferring to public school. He attended New Utrecht High School where he met his wife of 57 years, Elaine.

Ed spent decades working in sales and travelling the world with his company. His dedication to his work was unmatched, and his passion for his family was equally profound. Known for his wit and charm, Ed had a knack for making friends wherever he went, including, on one memorable account, President Bush.

Ed's generosity knew no bounds, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. In his later years, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and sharing stories of a life well lived. Ed will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Services will be held at Hanley Funeral Home on Friday, June 21, from 4pm-8pm, and at St Christopher’s Church on Saturday, June 22, at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, Ed’s family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
