Obituary For Anne M. Galli

Anne died on March 7, 2024, as she valiantly tried to recover from an emergency surgery she had on February 10, 2024, just five days before her 88th birthday, which she happily celebrated with her family while in the hospital.

She was born in Park Slope, Brooklyn on February 15, 1936 to Edward and Rita Hartnett. Growing up in Park Slope, she attended St. Saviour elementary school and then John Jay High School. She left high school early to join the workforce so she could put her sister Lucille through business school. After working in a variety of office jobs in Manhattan, she was hired as a secretary at a Brooklyn trucking company where she met Vito Sirabella. She married Vito on February 16, 1957, and settled on Tenth Street in Park Slope where she raised her three children, just a block away from where she grew up.

Once her children were older, Anne went back to work and became a valued employee at Hochberg Bros. Schan, Inc. and then the Methodist Hospital. Her husband Vito died suddenly in 1981, but a few years later, she suddenly reconnected with Richard Galli, who had been her sister Lucille’s Best Man at her wedding, while Anne was the Maid of Honor. She fell in love with Richie and married him on November 10. 1985. Richie died on July 29, 2005, but Anne went on to start the next chapter of her life, which was full of good friends, beloved family, international travel, and lots of parties.

Always open-hearted and talkative to everyone she met, Anne enjoyed “keeping in touch,” and was always on the phone. She proudly called herself a “people person” and believed that helping others was why we were born into this world.

A loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her three children, John, Patricia, and Kathleen Sirabella; her son-in-law William Ustick; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; her sister Lucille; eight nieces; and seven nephews. We will always remember her infectious laugh, no-nonsense approach to life, and her joie de vivre.

Viewing will begin Sunday March 10th, 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm. A funeral mass will be held the following day Monday 9:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church followed by a burial at Oceanview Cemetery.

Riposa in pace, Anne. Antonio&Marilisa con Daniela, Giuliana e Lorenzo
